Icons — Dashboard Icons by Homarr Labs
Dashboard Icons
The bulk of the logo icons used on this site come from Dashboard Icons, a community project maintained by Homarr Labs. Source on GitHub: homarr-labs/dashboard-icons. Licensed under Apache License 2.0.
We use the icons in the /assets/icons/ directory of this site. They are renamed for our internal consistency but are byte-equivalent to the upstream files. The full text of the Apache 2.0 license is reproduced at /assets/icons/LICENSE. Our attribution notice (with the upstream-to-ours filename mapping) is at /assets/icons/NOTICE.
Which icons we use
Sourced from Dashboard Icons (Apache 2.0):
Original placeholders (CC-BY-SA 4.0, our work)
The Dashboard Icons library does not yet include first-party icons for these projects. Rather than ship nothing, we generated simple monochrome placeholders. If and when the upstream library adds official versions, we'll switch over.
Photos
Editorial photographs
The cover and inline photos on this site (in /assets/img/) were generated by an AI image provider per the terms of service in force at the time of generation. We do not use any third-party editorial photographs without explicit attribution. Where a photo is by a named photographer or appears in a public archive, we'll link back here.
Fonts
Inter & JetBrains Mono via Google Fonts
The two typefaces used on this site — Inter (sans-serif body & display) and JetBrains Mono (code blocks, captions, key labels) — are loaded from Google Fonts. Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License. When a page loads, your browser fetches the font files from Google's CDN, which means Google sees the request from your IP. There's no Google-side tracking on this site beyond that.

DistroWatch page-hit ranking
The Top 15 right now section on our Distributions page uses the DistroWatch Page Hit Ranking — last 6 months, refreshed daily. Used with attribution and outbound link back to the source methodology.
Reporting missing credits
If you spot something on this site that we use but haven't credited here, please write to admin@linuxinstitute.co.za and we'll investigate and correct. We're a small team and mistakes are possible — we'd rather hear about one than leave it in place.
