System Requirements

  • 2 GHz dual-core processor or better
  • 4 GB RAM (system memory)
  • 25 GB of hard drive space
  • VGA capable of 1024x768 screen resolution
  • CD/DVD drive or USB port for installer media
  • Internet access is helpful

What You'll Need

  • A computer (desktop or laptop)
  • An Ubuntu Desktop ISO file (download link below)
  • A blank DVD or USB stick (at least 2GB)
  • About 30 minutes of your time

Installation Guide

Download Ubuntu

Visit the official Ubuntu download page to get the latest version of Ubuntu Desktop.

Create Installation Media

Use a tool like Rufus (Windows) or Etcher (Mac/Linux) to create a bootable USB drive with the Ubuntu ISO you downloaded.

Boot from USB

Restart your computer and boot from the USB drive. You may need to change the boot order in your BIOS settings.

Install Ubuntu

Follow the on-screen instructions to install Ubuntu. You can choose to install it alongside your existing OS or replace it entirely.

Complete the Setup

After installation, follow the prompts to set up your user account, connect to Wi-Fi, and choose your settings.

First Steps with Ubuntu

Explore the Dock: Find and launch applications quickly.
Update Your System: Use the Software Updater to keep your system current.
Install Software: Use the Ubuntu Software Center to find and install new applications.
Customize Your Desktop: Right-click on the desktop to change your background and other settings.
Learn Terminal Basics: While not necessary, learning basic terminal commands can be very helpful.
